Dakota County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, post bond, release anyone, or retrieve an official booking record. Direct those requests to the public office that maintains the record.
Where Official Records Live
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and the Dakota County Jail hold different county records from city police departments and courts. The jail is a 263-bed direct-supervision facility at the Hastings Law Enforcement Center. Jail detention units are staffed around the clock, but the reviewed official material does not state public records-counter hours. Confirm a records-office visit by phone before traveling.

Written Records Requests
Jail or detention data: dcjailadmin@co.dakota.mn.us
Other Sheriff records: DCSORecords@co.dakota.mn.us
Describe the person, date range, record sought, and whether inspection, copies, or both are requested.
Public-data requests are governed by Minnesota’s Government Data Practices Act, including Minnesota Statutes section 13.03. For a jail booking record or booking photo, a focused written request should be sent to the jail or detention records address. A city police report belongs with the arresting department, even if a person was later booked into county custody.
Choose the Right Office
Use the record type, not a broad web search, to decide who can answer the question.
- Current Dakota County custody: use the official inmate search. It is limited to people currently in custody.
- Jail booking record or photo: contact the jail records route above under Chapter 13. A request may be subject to privacy, juvenile, or active-investigation limits.
- Lakeville, Eagan, or Hastings police report: contact the arresting city’s police records office or its public records portal, rather than asking the county jail to recreate the incident file.
- Criminal complaint or court outcome: check the county criminal complaint search and Minnesota Court Records Online.
- State custody after sentencing: use the Minnesota DOC offender locator. It is not a recent county booking source.
- Federal or immigration custody: use the BOP inmate locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator only for the applicable federal custody question.
A custody result, a warrant, a police report, a complaint, and a court disposition are different record layers. An arrest or booking is an allegation, not a finding of guilt. Only the official source and court record can provide the current status within their respective systems.
